This has been a good year for aurorae, or so they say. I certainly have seen a lot of pictures shared of fantastic displays even in well lit suburbs. I had hope then, even though I do not live far form the city. I went outside last night, and earlier in the summer when we had that other solar storm.
Nothing new in the sky, alas.
But it was a clear night and I could see the stars. I realized that it had been a long time since I took any time to look at the stars, a long time since I stood in the dark long enough to begin to see them clearly. The stars are more mundane than an aurora, but they are still wondrous all on their own if you take the time to appreciate them.
