This is an idea I’ve had vaguely kicking around for a little while, but Ivan’s post about the topic came up in my feed, so it’s jumping to the front of the queue.
I have three blogs right now, and reasons for all of them. The first, of course, is this one. It is the default place for most of my ideas. It is general purpose. The other two are a little more focused.
The second blog is on my account over at fimfiction.net. I use it mostly for talking about fanfiction. That site is dedicated to those things. It is not entirely separate, I’ve copied a few posts between here and there, and I’ll happily link between them. But for the most part I’m inclined to keep the fandom specific writing on the fandom specific writing site.
And then there is the third blog which I will not be linking to here. It has my real name and other personal information on it. It’s essentially a portfolio kind of site, meant to give me some web presence for career purposes. My rule for there is not to post anything I wouldn’t want coming up in a job interview. It serves a purpose, but it is limiting.
And that brings us back to here, where I subject the internet to my—not quite unfiltered, but least filtered—ramblings. Occasionally I will have to think a little about whether to post more technically minded pieces here or on the professional site, and sometimes I’ve written two different versions of something to do both, but for the most part everything has different and specific enough contexts that there is no real debate over what should go where.
Well thanks to everyone who reads this, or any of the other blogs. I hope you have a great day.
