Sometimes, without expecting it, you stumble across a link to something you were not at all prepared for. Something beautiful.
A few months ago, on Mastodon, I found such a link. It unexpectedly came up again in a conversation on Discord the other day.
And now I’m going to share it with you: this is 17776 .
It’s a story about American football.
That’s not accurate…
Football is just the vehicle it uses to explore it’s ideas. You do not even need to be familiar with the game to appreciate this. It’s about the big questions. What would you do if you didn’t have to worry about work, about survival? What is life for? All this through the lens of absurd football games and sentient space probes.
I don’t really know how to describe it. And I can’t give a summary that will do it justice.
