I would not say that I am particularly into antiques, but I can understand some of the appeal.
Antiques have stories in them. They have passed through other people’s lives to come to us.
Typewriters are not unique in this respect. But the “stories” part is more literal. I can ponder not only where the typewriter I’m using has been and who had it, but also what it has written. Stories? Poems? Love letters? Typewriters are things people have told their thoughts and feelings to.
In my care this typewriter has written mostly blog posts and a little fanfiction. What will it write after me? Ah, another mystery!
