Lazy Bread

June 10, 2025

I like to bake bread. I’ve had a sourdough starter going for a little over a year now. Making bread is fun and delicious.

It does take a whole lot of time though. Not necessarily time actively working, but it’s something you have to plan for well in advance. Depending on the recipe, you’re looking at starting anywhere from 8 hours before you actually bake, to a full day or more.

That is, that’s what you have to do if you want a nice, tall, pretty, instagrammable loaf.

I’ve been taking a lazier approach. I just slap a dough together, let it rise for an hour just to get a little bit of air in it, and make it a flatbread in a pan. It may not be very presentable, but it tastes just fine.

Sometimes cutting corners is okay. Sometimes you can take the lazy route and get a perfectly acceptable result.
