I’ve been getting music via buying CDs lately. Physical media is cool. Also there are many cases where buying a vintage CD is actually a more economical option than downloading the same music—with, of course, the physical media bonus of not being tied to a particular platform.
The problem with this is that I am buying these CDs mostly for the purpose of ripping the files to my computer. So I am not quite sure what to do with them afterward.
I do also get a good amount of music by checking out CDs from the library. Those are good because fi can just give them back afterwards. Having a place to give things back to when you’re done with them has always been an underappreciated part of the value of libraries.
I’ve also started picking up the occasional vinyl record. But that’s a whole other conversation.
