It’s International Left-Hander’s Day! That actually goes nicely with my current topic.
I just want to take a moment to clear up a common misconception. A lot of my fellow lefties are under the impression that they can’t use fountain pens, or that they need special nibs or inks. None of this is true! You can use whatever you want. I know this because I do.
Now, you do have to take some care in how you write. Instead of making a mirror image of how a right-handed person writes and smearing everything, make sure to position your hand below the writing line. It will take some getting used to, but you will be amazed at how clean the side of your hand is.
That’s not the only advantage. Using a ballpoint pen left handed is tiring because you are pushing it into the paper instead of pulling it across like right-handers do. But fountain pens glide smoothly over without pressure, so there’s far less fatigue.
